Options for teens are abundant in Auburn and classes may include guitar, cooking, group outings and even some family fun options. Summer time offers a variety of camps designed specifically for teens. Programs and classes at the REC will vary with each new registration session:

Auburn Youth CouncilAYC

Auburn's Youth Council is a leadership and service learning program for Auburn area middle and high school students. The program constantly welcomes new members. Activities include volunteering at local events, helping to collaborate on ideas that benefit Auburn, and taking on other active roles in the community. Download an application (PDF). After School Program at The REC Opens September 6!

REC_ResizedAfter School Program at The REC running from 2:30-6:30 PM daily, Monday through Friday, features Arts & Crafts, the Makers Room (3D Printers, Laser Etchers and much more), technology lab, REC Room - featuring two large TV screens for video games and movie, basketball and futsal (indoor soccer) and a daily snack.

The Auburn School District will provide bus transportation (PDF) to the REC from each of the four middle schools. Registration contracts (PDF) must be completed to participate.  Daily drop-in fee is $1.  Monthly membership is available for $15/month.  Annual memberships are $100/year and includes Hype Night for Middle School & High School students.

    This Friday night program takes place the third weekend of each month, September through May at the REC Teen Center from 6:00-10:00 PM. $2 Admission includes all activities, free with monthly or annual REC membership.

Disney Alice in Wonderland (Through the Looking Glass) Intermediate Acting:
Using the Disney Alice in Wonderland Junior text as inspiration, young performing artists will explore techniques and gain experiences helping them better understand how to animate a story through live performance!  Students will learn valuable skills that will enhance their vocal strength, physical awareness, teamwork, focus, imagination, and stage etiquette.  To further grasp character sttheater_company_resizedudy, each student will be responsible for creating his/her own costume, stage makeup and hair style.  Memorization of lines, blocking, and careful examination of the text will be required as part of script analysis.  On the final day of class, a performance for friends and family will take place.
Tuesdays, September 26-November 14, 6:15 PM-7:45 PM.  $125/$157.  Ages 10-16.

Disney Alice in Wonderland Boot Camp! (Advanced Acting):
If you have ever wanted to help bypass nerves and rock an audition, this is the class for you!  "Alice in Wonderland" is the script we will use for this audition prep class.  If you aren't planning on auditioning for this spring play, use this audition class to  learn tools for any successful audition in your future.  Concentrating on breath, body and vocal confidence, we will help conquer nerves by working hard and knowing how to prepare for any audition. 
Thursdays, October 5-November 9, 6:00 PM-7:30 PM.  $125/$157.  Ages 10-16.

Teen Eats:
Channel your favorite celebrity chef and get in the kitchen!  The REC Teen Center hosts Teen Eats every Thursday.  Teens will learn the ins and outs of cooking real food that fuels the body and rocks the belly!  Teen Eats is FREE with your admission to the REC Teen Center.  Space is limited, sign up early. Transportation is available to and from Auburn Middle Schools.  Transportation permission slip must be on file.
Thursdays, October 5-October 26, 3:30 PM-5:00 PM.  Free.  Grades 6-12.


Zumba-Thon: Come enjoy Auburn Community & Event Center's ZumbaZumba fitness instructors as they show you how to get in a fun workout with sounds from around the world!  Experience what we have to offer with 2 hours of Zumba fitness and join the party!  Bring athletic shoes, water and a towel.
Saturday, September 23, 9:00 AM-11:00 AM.  $10.  Ages 8 and up.

Sofa Zero to 5k Hero:
Want to run a 5k?  We'll provide all the coaching and then some in this supportive small group program!  Join the Sofa Zero to 5k Her and in 8 weeks we'll give you all the tools you need to go from walking to running.  No experience necessary!  Fee includes "5k Hero" t-shirt. 
Saturdays, September 30-November 18, 9:00 AM-10:30 AM.  $25/$32.  Ages 10 and up.

The recreation division also offer various youth sport leagues throughout the year.
