Options for teens are abundant in Auburn and classes may include guitar, cooking, group outings and even some family fun options. Summertime offers a variety of camps designed specifically for teens. Programs and classes at the REC will vary with each new registration session:

The Auburn School District will provide bus transportation (PDF) to the REC from each of the four middle schools. Registration contracts (PDF) must be completed to participate.  Daily drop-in fee is $1.  Monthly membership is available for $15/month.  Annual memberships are $100/year and includes Hype Night for Middle School & High School students.

Auburn Youth Council

Auburn's Youth Council is a leadership and service learning program for Auburn area middle and high school students. The program constantly welcomes new members. Activities include volunteering at local events, helping to collaborate on ideas that benefit Auburn, and taking on other active roles in the community.

CLASSES

  • Teen Eats Learn the ins and outs of cooking real food that fuels the body and rocks the belly!  Free with admission to the REC Teen Center.  October 3-October 24, 3:30-5:00 PM.
  • Game Making with Game Maker  Go from Player to Creator!  Come use real game design software to design, build and play your own games!  Tuesdays, September 25-October 30, 7:30-8:45 PM.  $48/$60.
  • Future Web Designers  Learn how developers create websites and how to build your own!  Tuesdays, November 13-December 18, 7:30-8:45 PM.  $48/$60.
  • Teen Cheer Have fun learning cheers, dance, beginning tumbling, and stunting in this beginning to intermediate level cheer class.  Wednesdays, September 5-October 10, 6:00-7:00 PM.  $85/$107.
  • Beginning Guitar ‚ÄčLearn basic chords and strumming techniques.  Guitars are available if needed.  Thursdays, September 20-October 25, 6:00-7:00 PM.  $47/$59. 
  • Intermediate Guitar Now that you can play a song or two, you're ready for intermediate guitar!  Learn to be a better picker and strummer.  Thursdays, September 20-October 25, 7:00-8:00 PM.  $47/$59. 
  • Rock Riffs- Guitar Magic- Part 1 Study some of the most famous riffs in rock and what makes them kick!  Get performance experience and focus on playing.  Fridays, September 14-November 2, 6:00-7:00 PM.  $47/$59.
  • Rock Riffs- Guitar Magic- Part 2 Study guitar phrasing, soloing technique, riff development and continue in live performance experience with other musicians.  Fridays, September 14-November 2, 7:00-8:00 PM.  $47/$59.

Fitness

The recreation division also offer various youth sport leagues throughout the year.
