Options for teens are abundant in Auburn and classes may include guitar, cooking, group outings and even some family fun options. Summer time offers a variety of camps designed specifically for teens. Programs and classes at the REC will vary with each new registration session:

Auburn Youth CouncilAYC

Auburn's Youth Council is a leadership and service learning program for Auburn area middle and high school students. The program constantly welcomes new members. Activities include volunteering at local events, helping to collaborate on ideas that benefit Auburn, and taking on other active roles in the community. Download an application (PDF). After School Program at The REC!

REC_ResizedAfter School Program at The REC running from 2:30-6:30 PM daily, Monday through Friday, features Arts & Crafts, the Makers Room (3D Printers, Laser Etchers and much more), technology lab, REC Room - featuring two large TV screens for video games and movie, basketball and futsal (indoor soccer) and a daily snack.

The Auburn School District will provide bus transportation (PDF) to the REC from each of the four middle schools. Registration contracts (PDF) must be completed to participate.  Daily drop-in fee is $1.  Monthly membership is available for $15/month.  Annual memberships are $100/year and includes Hype Night for Middle School & High School students.

Teen_EatsTeen Eats:
Channel your favorite celebrity chef and get in the kitchen!  The REC Teen Center hosts Teen Eats every Thursday.  Teens will learn the ins and outs of cooking real food that fuels the body and rocks the belly!  Teen Eats is FREE with your admission to the REC Teen Center.  Space is limited, sign up early. Transportation is available to and from Auburn Middle Schools.  Transportation waiver must be on file.
Thursdays, January 25-February 22, 3:30 PM-5:00 PM.  Free.  Grades 6-12.

Story Masters 1: The Art of Character and Plot Development:
The world is in danger!  Boring plots are making students lose interest in books.  Unoriginal characters cause innocent citizens to yawn uncontrollably!  Readers everywhere are calling out for help and only a young author like YOU can save them.  In this 8 week workshop students will learn the art of crafting believable characters and unlock the secret of story structure that will make your writing stand out from the crowd.  Taught by award-winning novelist Christopher Miller.
Mondays, February 5-March 26, 6-7:30 PM.  Ages 11 and up.  $48/$60.
