(Single-family & Duplex Dwellings)

Allied Waste Services (AWS) Garbage Collection

Set up

If you live within the City of Auburn’s Allied Waste Services garbage service area , you are NOT required to have garbage service. Collection and disposal of all solid waste by the City of Auburn’s agent is voluntary for each occupied unit. Contact the City Utilities department for garbage service set up at 253-931-3038.

Garbage Rates

Solid Waste & Recycling rates vary depending on your garbage container size. The smaller your garbage container, the less you pay. Many different garbage container sizes are available for your individual needs. Available sizes include 20 & 32 gallon cans and 32, 64 and 96 gallon carts. The City provides all garbage containers, except the 32 gallon can size. To ensure the safety of the garbage truck drivers, 45-gallon containers are not acceptable, and will be charged as an oversized can. Also, please limit 32-gallon container weight to 60 pounds.

Materials Accepted

If it cannot be recycled or put into the Yard Debris Cart, it probably goes in the Garbage! What goes in the garbage?

Extra garbage pickups and charges

If the amount of garbage you generate exceeds your current service, consider increasing your service level. Garbage collected in excess of your current monthly service level (as listed on your account) is charged at a rate of $2.25 per container (or 32-gallon equivalent) per pick-up. Extra charges and special pickups can be costly...having the correct service level will save you money.

Collection Schedule

Garbage is picked up on Monday once a week. Garbage containers must be set out for collection by 6:00 a.m. on collection day.
