The Solid Waste & Recycling Division is here to:

Provide environmentally sound and safe disposal of solid and hazardous waste, provide waste reduction and recycling opportunities and to increase public awareness within the City of Auburn.

In recent years, landfill and conservation issues have changed the way our community thinks about garbage. In order to ensure resource conservation, Auburn offers a variety of garbage, recycling and yard waste services to Residents, Multifamily complexes and Commercial businesses.

Three different garbage and recycling haulers serve within the Auburn city limits: Waste Management, Allied Waste Services and Murray’s Disposal. You can locate your garbage and recycling service provider by linking to the Solid Waste & Service Provider Map on the navigation bar to the left.

In addition to garbage and recycling services, the Solid Waste Division offers information on: Hazardous Waste Disposal, Natural Yard Care, Business Recycling and Recycling & Waste Prevention Outreach and Education.

Recycle Food Waste. It's easy to Do.

Effective August 1, 2007, Single-family, Waste Management residents can recycle their food scraps and food soiled-paper in their yard debris cart. Currently, more than 35% of what we throw away is comprised of food scraps and food-soiled paper.

By recycling food scraps you can greatly reduce the amount of waste in the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill, and can help you reduce the size of the your garbage container - saving you money on your garbage bill. Items such as vegetables and fruit trimmings, plate scrapings, egg shells, coffee grounds, paper towels, napkins, meat, cheese, bones - even greasy pizza delivery boxes - all can now be recycled in your yard debris cart.

Contact the City of Auburn Utilities to order a yard waste cart and start recycling your food waste, 253-931-3038. For more information click here.

All-In-One Recycling!

No more Sorting! City of Auburn Waste Management and Allied Waste Service customers can put their bottles and cans in the same container as their paper and cardboard. For recycling guidelines, visit Waste Management or Allied Waste Services pages (to the left).

King County Latex Paint Disposal Policy

Beginning Jan. 1, 2008, King County’s Local Hazardous Waste Management Program collection facilities (Factoria and the Wastemobile) will no longer accept latex paint. Recent research shows that latex paint can safely be put in the garbage if it’s dry or solidified first. Residents should dry out latex paint and put it in the garbage.
