Hanan Amer (She/ her) was born in Oklahoma and raised in Benghazi, Libya. She works as an engineer at The Boeing Company, where she has worked for almost 15 years.

In 2008, Hanan married her husband, a long-time Auburn resident since the 1990s. Together, they raised their children in Auburn, where both graduated from Auburn High School.

Hanan has served the community, including longstanding volunteer service with the Auburn Police Department. She has also volunteered as a Tax Preparer with United Way of King County and volunteered with the Auburn Food Bank, the White River Valley Museum, and the Auburn and Muckleshoot libraries. She has served on her Homeowners Association for several years and is currently serving as president.

Hanan is a lifelong Girl Scout with more than 35 years of service. She earned the Bronze and Gold President’s Service Volunteer Awards, and in 2023 received her 35-year volunteer pin and the Girl Scout Honor Pin. She is also a proud CERT graduate (Class 39).

When not working, being a wife, a mom, a grandma, or volunteering, she loves spending time with her bow and arrows, engaging in archery. As a certified Level II USA Archery Instructor, she enjoys teaching Girl Scout leaders and Girl Scouts. She might not always wear bows, but she sure can shoot them.

In 2024, Hanan earned the Certificate of Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities. 

In 2025, she was selected for and completed the Washington Collaborative Elected Leaders Institute (WA-CELI), a statewide leadership training program for elected officials.

Hanan proudly serves on the LEOFF Board (Law Enforcement Officers’ and Fire Fighters’ Retirement System), the WRIA 9 (Water Resource Inventory Area 9), the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) – Board of Governance, Sound Cities Association (SCA): Children & Youth Advisory Board (Member) as well as the Regional Water Quality Committee (Alternate).
