The Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department offers a variety of seasonal sports leagues for kids. Below, you'll find a summary of each activity, along with details on eligibility and team assignments.

Skyhawks Sports for Tots 

Learning sports has never been more fun! These classes focus on basic skills and teamwork. Age appropriate equipment is used to always provide just the right amount of challenge.

AGES 3-4

Skyhawks Sports Classes AGES 5-12

Skyhawks provides a wide variety of fun, safe and positive programs that emphasize critical lessons in sports and life, such as teamwork, respect and sportsmanship. Our programs are designed to give each child a positive introduction into sports while fostering a lifelong love for an active, healthy lifestyle. Our patient and knowledgeable staff use a variety of skill-building games and activities to give each athlete a complete understanding and overview of the sport. Classes will take place inside gym.

Les Gove Gym | $75/$94 | Skyhawks Sports Academy

NFL Flag Football League (Grades 3-8)

Recreational youth flag football. Teams will practice and play games on Monday and Wednesday evenings. New this year we will be partnering with NFL Flag and will getting NFL replica uniforms for all registered players. Practices are scheduled to start mid-November. Games are scheduled to begin early January. Teams will play six games. Players will receive a NFL replica jersey and flag belts as part of their registration fee. Volunteers are recruited to coach. Email reminders will be sent out 7-10 days prior with specifics on time, place and other information. $15 early bird discount if registered by October 15.

Youth Baseball Leagues

Baseball - Kindergarten | Rules (PDF)

• Eligibility: Open to children entering Kindergarten in the fall and those currently in Kindergarten.
• Program Details: A coed instructional league focused on sportsmanship and fundamentals in a fun-filled environment.
• Format: T-ball with coach pitch for those ready.
• Schedule: Practices and games 1-2 times per week (Monday-Thursday), June 1 – August 6 (dependent on coach availability).
• Fee Discount: $15 early bird discount if registered by May 6.

Baseball - Grades 1-2 | Rules (PDF)

• Format: Coed machine-pitch instructional league emphasizing sportsmanship and skill development.
• Schedule: Mondays – Thursdays, June 1 – August 6.
• Fee Discount: $15 early bird discount if registered by May 7.

Baseball - Grades 3-4 | Rules (PDF)

• Format: A transition from instructional leagues. Teams use 10 fielders and batters receive five pitches from their own pitcher. Game scores are not recorded.
• Schedule: Mondays – Thursdays, April 27 – June 19.
• Fee Discount: $15 early bird discount if registered by April 1.

Baseball - Grades 5-6 | Rules (PDF)

• Format: Teams use nine fielders, with umpires calling balls and strikes.
• Schedule: Mondays – Thursdays, April 27 – June 19.
• Fee Discount: $15 early bird discount if registered by April 1.

Baseball - Grades 7-8 | Rules (PDF)

• Format: Standard baseball rules, with nine fielders and umpires calling balls and strikes.
• Schedule: Mondays – Thursdays, April 27 – June 19.
• Fee Discount: $15 early bird discount if registered by April 1.

Girls' Fastpitch
We are not offering a fastpitch program this season due to the lack of a partner agency to form a league. However, all baseball programs are open to both boys and girls.

Track and Field

Join our fun and engaging recreational track program designed for boys and girls in grades K-8! This program focuses on track and field fundamentals, promoting sportsmanship, conditioning, leadership, and confidence in a supportive environment.

• Competition: Participants will compete in various track meets throughout June and July, held both in Auburn and in neighboring cities.  Participants will be limited to 3 events per meet.
• Practice Schedule: Choose one practice day (space is limited):
  • Monday: Auburn High School
  • Tuesday: Auburn Riverside High School
  • Wednesday: Auburn Mountainview High School
• Practice Time: ages 5-8, 6:00 – 7:00 PM; ages 9-14, 7:00-8:00 PM
• Meet Schedule: Thursdays from 5:30 – 8:00 PM
• Uniforms: A t-shirt uniform is provided to participants who register by Wednesday, May 7.
• Early Registration Discount: $15 off if registered by May 7.

Volunteer Coaches Needed for Youth Sports!

Help make our youth sports programs a success by becoming a coach or assistant coach! We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help guide and mentor young athletes.

Volunteer Requirements: Assignments are made based on the completion of the following:

• Completing a City of Auburn Volunteer Application
• Passing a National background check
• Complete concussion training (state of Washington requirement)
• Complete sudden cardiac arrest training (state of Washington requirement)
• Complete coach training through National Alliance for Youth Sports, highly encouraged and paid for by City of Auburn
