Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
CERT training is designed to teach community members how to help themselves and the people around them during and after a disaster.
The training is a blend of hands-on and classroom education that will have participants practicing basic disaster response skills, including prioritizing medical care, treating injuries, extinguishing small fires, search and rescue techniques, utility safety, emergency communications, and how to address the psychological impact of disasters. At the end of the course, CERTs will practice their skills and find, rescue, and treat 'injured' survivors in a final earthquake drill.
CERT is a great way for community members to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness in their community.
CERT is offered by Auburn Emergency Management twice a year (Spring/Fall), however groups of 10+ can request CERT classes by emailing [email protected].

The Auburn CERT course includes 6 weeks of classes and is offered free of charge. Class graduates will receive a backpack, hard hat, a reflective vest, safety goggles, and other gear to keep. Participants are asked to provide their own work gloves and sturdy closed-toe shoes.
CERT training is adaptable to any ability level. Participants must be 16 years old or older (no upper age limit), or 13 -15 years old accompanied by a parent or guardian.
