The purpose of the license is to identify, authorize, track and report various commerce enterprises operating lawfully within the City of Auburn and to provide emergency contact information to emergency personnel.

The City of Auburn is pleased to announce that we have partnered with the Washington State Department of Revenue Business Licensing Service (BLS) effective September 15, 2022, for administration of City of Auburn General Business Licensing.

Our partnership with the BLS will allow you "one-stop shopping" when applying, maintaining, or renewing many of your state and city licenses, saving you time and costs. If your business was licensed in Auburn in 2022 and your license expiration date was 12/31/2022, your 2023 renewal will be prorated and aligned with your state anniversary/expiration date making it easier to plan and renew everything at once moving forward.

More information can be found under the "Apply or Renew" and "FAQs" tabs below. At this time, all new and renewal license applications must be submitted through the BLS system. Please see the regulatory licenses and residential rental license that will still be licensed through the city by reading the FAQ on tab three below.

The 2022 annual license fee for the City of Auburn is $103.00 for in city businesses and $52.00 for non-resident licenses. Reading the FAQ will provide the process for exempt, residential rental, or regulatory licenses.
