Schedule an Inspection

Prior to beginning construction, please verify that your project meets all current requirements of the Washington State Governor’s Office and Washington State Department of Labor & Industries. For more information, please visit the Governor’s website.

The City of Auburn will continue to provide inspection services for projects that are able to maintain a safe job site environment and meet COVID-19 exposure control, mitigation, and recovery requirements.  For occupant safety, some inspections of residential interior spaces may be limited at this time.

Inspectors who visit job sites will continue to wear personal protective equipment and conduct a no-contact inspection process.  We ask that inspection areas be sanitized and vacated prior to inspection to ensure the minimum 6-ft distancing is maintained and the jobsite is safe to enter.

Prior to or upon arrival, our inspector may contact the job-site contact to coordinate arrival procedures and confirm COVID protocols are in place as required and screening questions confirmed as necessary.  If your project requires specific COVID restrictions beyond what has already been addressed, please provide these instructions with your inspection request.

We are happy to announce that the City of Auburn is now part of MyBuildingPermit.com!  Inspection requests can now be made via

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR INSPECTION:
Inspections occur on business days roughly between 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. While we cannot make appointments, we will do our best to honor inspection requests for certain timeframes (AM or PM).

  • The day of your inspection, please ensure someone over the age of 18 is available at the job site. Inspectors cannot enter the property otherwise.
  • If you have a contractor doing the work, you may find it useful for them to be present at the time of inspection (not a requirement).
  • Please have your approved construction drawings and permit card on site when the inspector arrives.
  • Fire Permit Inspections. Inspections for fire permits can be requested online through Valley Regional Fire Authority Fire Marshal's Office website. Please ensure your request is made at least 48-hrs in advance.
